Laura McConnell
Tax Manager
Laura is a Tax Manager who works closely with clients to provide proactive tax advice and ensure their tax affairs are managed efficiently and accurately. Her attention to detail and client-focused approach help individuals and businesses navigate complex tax matters with confidence while remaining compliant and tax-efficient.
Jennie Brown
Director - Head of Tax Advisory
Northampton, Southampton, Milton Keynes, Leicester
Jennie brings extensive experience helping businesses navigate restructuring projects, succession planning and ownership transitions, while also adding valuable expertise in SDLT and other complex advisory areas. Jennie is ATT and CTA qualified and has recently achieved the prestigious Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) qualification, further enhancing her expertise in cross-border tax matters.
Simon Young
Business Services Director
Simon’s an experienced Business Advisory Chartered Accountant. Throughout his career, Simon has always worked in SMEs or on them as their accountant. In 2012, he took the step of establishing his own accountancy practice and grew it until it became of a size where he felt that TC Group was the natural home to continue to look after his clients, allowing him time to focus 100% on clients and their needs.
Simon has experience in both accounting and taxation of numerous different sectors, including the media, companies involved in international trade and companies that use AI and technology. As part of this, Simon knows the importance of looking after the tax needs of the owners of these businesses. He can see the bigger picture but also can focus on the detail, advising clients on how to structure their business and implementing and running those plans. He also has extensive experience of small charities.
Jake Burton
Manager
Jake’s the Digital Development Manager based at the Holbeach office where, alongside Chris McKenna, he has driven cloud adoption and wider app integration, as well as general process efficiencies.
Jake champions online and digital accounting, sharing his expert knowledge and experience across the Group. His specialist areas include transitioning businesses from manual or antiquated systems to cloud, providing in-depth training, advise and support to these clients along their journey.
Within a rapidly changing industry, Jake continues to explore new developments in accounting technology, focusing on AI and robotic process automation (RPA) to improve efficiency for clients and staff.
Outside of work, Jake’s passion is cricket. In memory of his granddad who died during Covid, Jake set up Runs4Research to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK. His efforts have resulted in more than £62,000 being donated to the charity so far.
Paula Harwood
Client HR Consultant
Paula joined TC Farnell Clarke in 2023 to expand the support available to clients through a dedicated HR advisory service. By working alongside the firm’s accounting, payroll, tax and business advisory teams, she helps businesses access practical, joined-up advice on both their people and commercial challenges.
With over 15 years’ HR experience across both the public and private sectors, Paula works closely with SME business owners on people strategy, workforce planning and employment matters. She’s CIPD qualified and brings a practical, commercially focused approach to helping clients build effective, compliant and engaged workforces.
Karen Shackcloth
Payroll Manager
Karen supports a diverse portfolio of clients with all aspects of payroll. Having worked in payroll for over a decade, many years with the firm, she’s developed extensive expertise in payroll compliance, legislation and client service.
She’s passionate about building strong client relationships and ensuring businesses receive a reliable and responsive payroll service.
Abi Tullock
Senior Finance Partner
Abi’s a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) who heads up the outsourcing team, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients with their bookkeeping and finance functions. Having started her career with the firm as an apprentice over 11 years ago, she’s progressed through her professional qualifications, developing deep expertise across a wide range of sectors.
Her hands-on experience, combined with a highly client-focused approach, enables businesses to streamline financial processes and gain access to timely, insightful management information that supports confident decision-making.
Outside of work, Abi enjoys spending time with family and friends, loves baking, and is always planning her next holiday, preferably a cruise!
Jordan Newsome
Operations Manager
Jordan joined Farnell Clarke in 2021 as a Payroll Senior, having built a strong foundation in administration and payroll across multiple industries and in practice. Through a natural progression within the business, Jordan’s taken on broader responsibilities across internal HR and office management before stepping into the role of Operations Manager.
Now overseeing the smooth running of day-to-day operations, Jordan works closely with teams across the business to ensure processes are efficient, people are supported, and clients receive a consistently high standard of service. With a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach, Jordan plays an important role in driving operational effectiveness.
