Our East Bristol office are looking for a Personal Tax Assistant to join their busy tax team. The ideal candidate will have two years relevant experience in personal taxation. The role will involve preparing self-assessment tax returns for a range of clients and to offer general personal tax support. Training and support will be given whilst studying for AAT/ATT qualifications.

Key responsibilities are:

  • preparation of personal tax returns for a range of client’s such as; sole traders, partnerships, alongside company directors and those with rental income
  • preparation of capital gains tax computations for inclusion within self-assessment returns, together with completion of 30-Day CGT Declarations to HMRC
  • preparing forms P11D & P11D(b)
  • working closely with clients, other members of the tax team and other departments, including direct contact with the Partners and clients in order to obtain the required information to prepare Self-Assessment Returns
  • liaising directly with HMRC in relation to personal tax matters
  • supporting other members of the team and participate in ad-hoc projects
  • maintaining and updating company databases in order to track/ monitor client progress
  • checking client records to ensure all information has been received


We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • educated to GCSE Level 7 or above in both English and Mathematics would be an advantage
  • already studying or looking to study for AAT / ATT
  • at least 2 years’ personal taxation experience in an accountancy practice
  • experience with MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook and CCH accountancy software would be advantageous
  • strong organisation skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
