The opportunity

Our Steyning office has an opportunity for a Payroll Trainee to join the client payroll team.

The client payroll team process payrolls for a variety of external clients from organisations across the UK. You will be involved in processing weekly and monthly payrolls and building relationships with clients. In Sussex we have a highly prestigious client base of high-net worth individuals, SMEs, not-for-profit individuals, regulated industries and agriculture.

Joining the team as an apprentice, you’ll work towards a formal payroll qualification and start your journey towards a fulfilling and rewarding payroll career.  With the benefits of on the job learning and structured training, you will be given all the skills and support you need as well an impressive client list. Senior members of the team will support with training and our internal training courses will help you develop in the role.

Initially you will be part of a larger team before taking on individual responsibility for your clients. In time you will have your own client portfolio and will be the main contact for all their payroll requirements.

 

What we are looking for

We are looking for enthusiastic self-starters who are looking for a challenge. You will have speed, accuracy and understand the importance of excellent client service.

You will have confidence with numbers, great attention to detail and the ability to confidently talk to people to build client relationships.

Excellent verbal and written communication is also crucial.

Payroll can be technically demanding with new concepts and regulatory changes to grasp. You should be able to learn quickly and be at ease with grasping new concepts.

Qualifications

We are looking candidates who have GCSES in English and Maths (grade 4 and above) and/or A Levels (grades C and above).
